Sagan wins uphill sprint and takes his first yellow jersey
Peter Sagan won the uphill sprint in Cherbourg-Octeville on Sunday and earned the first maillot jaune of his career. Sagan also donned his familiar green jersey on the stage 2 podium after jumping away from Julian Allaphilippe and Alejandro Valverde in the short, steep climb before the finish.
Jasper Stuvyen (Trek-Segafredo) was the final survivor of the day’s breakaway and put considerable pressure on the bunch, but in the end the field reeled in Stuyven within the final 500 metres to set up the sprint from a reduced bunch.
After 60 km arrived in the main field of a mass fall into which it is entangled and Joaquin Rodriguez and the second day in a row and Alberto Contador.
