«IT-House» is due to be launched on the basis of Lviv IT Cluster – the building is expected to have 72 apartments. They can only be bought by IT specialists and almost at a cost of production. The construction is due to start in autumn this year.
Lviv has recently become a powerful center of IT Technologies in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Dozens of IT companies are working in Lviv and annually implement hundreds of IT projects ranging from cloud platforms for big international companies to special effects for renowned and famous film studios around the world. Headquarters of the biggest IT company in Ukraine are located in Lviv – it’s SoftServe that was acknowledged as the best employer of Ukraine in 2010 and the best employer in the Central and Eastern Europe in 2011.
According to the latest figures more than 10 000 IT specialists are residing in the city at the moment and this number is growing due to the internal migration of specialists and programmers in particular. For instance, last year more than 20 IT companies moved from Kharkiv to Lviv. That is why it was decided to provide IT specialists with their residential property and thus to build a house that contains 72 apartments as a pilot project.
Even at its early stage the project appeared to be of great demand – almost all apartments were sold during the first two months. Now there are only 10 apartments available for sale. IT-House will be built in a prestigious area of Lviv, while the cost of one square meter will be $580-600.
